Week in the Life 2013: Sunday

The final day of the #weekinthelife project for this year. A calmer day of just the 3 of us.

7:51am Only 55˚ so we started our day with slippers on.

8:47am Homemade favorite by Trent. We typically have these once per weekend. (iPhone w/ text using Over app)

12:10pm His favorite part of the Sunday paper - the kids' section in the comics.

1:13pm Practicing writing his alphabet.

1:46pm Visit to the Scrap Exchange in Durham. Dropped off a box of donations and browsed. Bought one item (wooden dinosaur fossil puzzle) that Dylan picked out.

3:42pm One of my fall favorites - Honeycrisp apples. Found when making a rare trip to the grocery store. Most weeks I take advantage of the online order and pickup option.

5:24pm Incoming flights passing overhead. 

6:15pm Playing around with edits to a selfie in PicTapGo app. Eyes were dry so I ditched the contacts earlier than usual and put on my glasses.

6:26pm Impossible to get this one to stay still for a photo.

6:43pm Cleaned and refilled the Penguin humidifier. A few sneezes on Saturday = a bit more sneezes and a slight runny nose on Sunday. Fingers crossed it's nothing more than allergies. Pollen is up and he was outside a lot this weekend.

7:30pm Bedtime reading - The Honey Hunt. Put Dylan to bed a bit early due to no nap and an early start on Monday morning.

8:34pm Regular Sunday evening phone call from my Dad.

9:09pm Fitting that I should end the week as every night - on the couch uploading photos & blogging while catching up on shows on our DVR.

Week in the Life 2013: Saturday

Another day = another day of normalcy + unexpected ... ie, life. :)

6:46am Dylan is up and in our room. Sent him back to his room for "quiet time" until the bunny wakes at 7:30. Semi worked, semi failed. He's back in our bed a little after 7 with a set of sight word flash cards and we practice those. No photos. I was too tired & the iPhone was off just out of reach on my nightstand.

7:46am Getting the newspaper. We still have it delivered 7 days a week. (#oldfashioned?)

7:47am The morning tantrum all because I went out and got newspaper. Apparently he wanted to. On the plus side, note he dressed himself and is ready for the day.

8:11am Looking at the paper over breakfast. Dylan asks why there are photos of cats & dogs on the front. I explained that they needed homes. He asked why. Because they don't have a home. He said, "that's sad. Everyone needs a home." 

The cleaning bug has bit. Halfway through a deep cleaning of the kitchen.

9:56am Boys head out to Lowes for the Build & Grow clinic plus lunch at McDonald's.

2:32pm FaceTime with Grama

3:51pm Princess / Pirate birthday party: Coloring his treasure chest. Afterward he dug for treasure in the large chest behind him to fill his small wooden one with. So awesome.

4:25pm Princess / Pirate birthday party: Walk the Plank!

Week in the Life 2013: Friday

Lots of food pics (extra hungry yesterday?) and while a bumpy start, Friday the 13th went pretty well ...

6:35am Necessary morning wash after 5am bedding change.  

7:07am Breakfast. My usual - half a bagel and a bowl of Basic 4.

"I want to wear this, Mama. I want to make you happy." - heart melts

And then he marked up the wall with his new toy plastic hammer from his uncle. (Guess who's getting Magic Eraser duty tomorrow?)

Afterward, I knocked over my travel mug of iced coffee spilling it onto the wall & floor in foyer (no photo of that mishap).

Forgot it was Friday the 13th until my boss reminded me. Maybe explains the pure chaos before 8am??

11:00am Late morning snack treat from a coworker - Bo-Berry biscuits. (The day has taken a turn for the better!)

12:29pm Lunch time cookout.

Cookout ended with shaved ice.

5:44pm 'A' is for Alligator

6:45pm A typical sight living in the flightpath. Today the planes were taking off instead of landing - only 2nd time this week.

Thankful for a husband that cooks! Dinner ready when we got home.

7:36pm Evening game time

8:00pm One bathroom cleaned (minus the soap crayon drawings on the tub wall). 

11:19pm Napping behind me on the couch. Her typical evening spot.

Week in the Life 2013: Thursday

Another full day. I'm amazed how much still happens (and I manage to capture) in our lives even when we're apart most of the day with work & preschool.

6:47am Silly, sleepy boy brought his Cars blanket & 2 loveys in the hall and pretended to go back to sleep.

7:09am A rare weekday breakfast with all 3 of us briefly at the table together!

7:30am Soccer day at preschool, but he didn't want to wear his shirt.

12:23pm Lunchtime thrifting. Ended up with 2 frames & a book for $4.80.

5:42pm Heading into Great Clips for haircuts for Trent & Dylan.

5:50pm Holding still while getting a haircut.

6:20pm Dinner at Jason's Deli - deli club, fruit plate and kid's salad bar.

6:44pm Having fun taking selfies after dinner.

7:04pm "For you, Mama!"

7:15pm Visiting with neighbors. Dylan was helping check on their vegetable garden while their 11mo son was crawling around the yard.

8:07pm One of the thrift store frame purchases was a poster frame for this NCSU poster we got at Meet the Pack day. Excited to find the exact size I needed for $2 plus discovered when I got home the plastic still on the plexi. Like new! Now hanging in Dylan's bedroom.

8:15pm He climbed into bed, put his elf Abby in his lap and opened a book to "read" to him. My heart melted when I noticed he put Abby's hand on his. :)

Watching Big Brother (my one reality addiction) and working on our Disney trip photo book. One more page to go. Couldn't quite finish before bedtime.

Week in the Life 2013: Wednesday

As true with any week, Wednesday had it's normal moments and it's unexpected ...

6:27am Reading. This was after waking us at 5:55 when he climbed into our bed.  I sent Dylan to his room until the "bunny woke up" for quiet play time so I could get ready. 

6:48am Fixing breakfast.

8:21am Powering up the Mac for "me time" while he's in his weekly speech therapy.

9:31am Snack time.

9:41am Stop at BJs for gas.

4:13pm Received photo & text from Trent. Afternoon team building. 

4:32pm Fixed a cup of green tea (iPhone w/ text using Over app)

6:06pm We work & live in the city, but our route home takes us through farmland.

6:39pm Shooting hoops with Uncle Ben. (Failed to get a clear shot.)

7:10pm Cutting up strawberries & cucumber for his dinner.

7:12pm Last minute dinner plans after surprise visit from Trent's brother.

8:28pm Later bedtime due to his uncle visiting. Seahorse is a must at every bedtime.

9:45pm Typical weekday night. Hers & his.
