10 Years

Somedays it feels like I blinked and we went from this ...

to this ...

Love, laughter, tears and hugs.
Millions of memories big and small. Together.

Happy tenth anniversary, love.

Here's to the start of our next decade together
and a million more memories.

Shoot and Edit: Macro edit

I was quite pleased with my SOOC shot this week. I kept my edit very simple - ran Ashley's Nice & Easy action and adjusted the layers to taste.

Shoot and Edit: Macro

Technically, I don't think this is a "macro" shot. I don't own a macro lens. Instead I experimented with the lens I have, manual settings and simply getting as close as possible.

Lucky 7

Trent and I celebrate our 7th anniversary today.  The post title "Lucky 7" came from my friend, Laura.  It sounds much nicer than the "7 year itch" and fits us better.  We're very lucky indeed.

Here's the front of the card I made for him:

Supplies: Stampin' Up (navy) and miscellaneous (white) cardstock; Making Memories patterned paper, chipboard heart, letter stickers and edge scraper.

Supplies: Die Cuts with a View card; miscellaneous green cardstock; Deja Views, Scenic Route & Cosmo Cricket patterned papers; black stamp ink; Prima flower; Making Memories button & stitches. Inspired by October A Year in Cards class at Two Peas.

Disney On Ice: Worlds of Fantasy

Years ago Trent & I decided to give each other "memories" for special occasions. Rather than a physical item, we would go do something together. For example, each year for our anniversary we take a trip and for Christmas we give each other mini plan tickets for the Durham Bulls baseball games. My birthday last month was no exception. Trent gave me tickets for last night's Disney On Ice "Worlds of Fantasy" show. This year it featured the characters from Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Tinkerbell. The costumes & performances were wonderful!

A little glimpse of the show:

Thanks, sweetheart, for wonderful night! :)

Family

We had a wonderful Saturday visiting with family. Our first stop was with lunch with Trent's grandparents. Friday was his grandfather's birthday and grandparents' 63rd wedding anniversary!

Mid-afternoon we drove a bit further west to my dad's house. We played a bit with the adorable kittens he and his wife are fostering. Aren't they precious? The little girl is on the left - very relaxed and loves to just sit and be held. The little boy is more adventurous and mischievous. I loved his curled whiskers.

My stepbrother, his wife and daughters were visiting as well. All except the little one went to a wedding last night so Trent and I helped Dad and Rianna babysit little Violet. Trent and I hadn't seen the girls since last Christmas. I went in to get Violet up from her nap and wasn't sure what to expect being a strange face. She just grinned and reached up to me. Aww. :)

As you can see here, she enjoyed playing with her Uncle Trent.

By the time we returned home last night around 10:30, we were both wiped out and crashed hard. But it was a very fun day and we were so glad to enjoy time with our families.

Cemeteries of Charleston

In 2006, we took a trip to Charleston, SC, for our anniversary. Trent wanted to take a ghost tour so that's exactly what we did on the very first evening. We've taken ghost tours before, but this one was by far the best. Our tour guide was a lifelong Charleston resident and not only knew all the stories, but she told them with such enthusiasm and excitement. The following day we went back downtown to wander around a few of the spots she had taken us to for a view during the daytime.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock; Archiver's cardstock; KI Memories patterned paper; Basic Grey patterned paper; Making Memories rub-ons, letter stickers and stamps; American Crafts rub-ons; Autumn Leaves stamps; Micron pen; corner rounder punch.

South Carolina Aquarium

Friday afternoon while cleaning up in my scraproom, I came across a stack of photos from our anniversary trip to Charleston, SC, in 2006. Only a couple had been scrapped and the big grid of photos on the layout for Oct 1st in the dw2008 calendar gave me the perfect inspiration to get those from the SC Aquarium done.

Supplies: Dark Comfort paper from Twinkle Toes kit and Paper Wave from Tropical Popsicle kit at Peppermint Creative; logo from aquarium website; Arial font.

Frist Center

During my last post, I mentioned the Nashville Zoo. It was one of many places Trent & I visited during an anniversary trip to Nashville in November 2005. I've only scrapped a small part of it so far. Tonight I pulled out a bag of memorabilia from our trip and made a quick page about the Frist Center for the Visual Arts.

Supplies: Archiver's cardstock; Uniball Signo white & silver pens; chalk; Making Memories Clears brackets; museum brochure. Inspired by Apr 15 of dw2008.

Our Animal Kingdom Anniversary

2ps blog challenge:
Share what you have created lately...
Found a little time tonight to create a digital page for our Disney album. The photo was taken at Animal Kingdom on our last full day of the trip and our 4th anniversary. :) I was inspired by Jan 17th of dw2008 to scrap a favorite photo and to experiment with different styles & ideas. While I'm not new to digital scrapping, it's not something I do a lot of nor am very comfortable with. I still prefer traditional scrapbooking. However, I thought I'd play around with some different papers & techniques tonight in Photoshop. Here's the result:

Supplies: Lined Kraft paper from Back2School kit by Shannon Freeman; Blue Title and Yellow Border Strip from Color My World Kit by Rhonna Farrer; 2Peas Stained Glass font; staples from Miss Mint's Twinkle Toes kit; Making Memories note{worthy} journaling page; KI Memories Hopscotch Red paper (thanks, Terri!!).
