NCSU Basketball Experience

In January, Trent won a NC State Basketball Experience prize pack. I wanted to include a lot of photos in the layout, but not spend the time cropping them all by hand. Instead I used a free template from Scrapbooks Etc to begin arranging them digitally in Photoshop. I edited the template to get the look I wanted. Printed it out at 8x8 and then finished the page using my traditional supplies.

Supplies: Archiver's black cardstock; Bazzill red & white cardstock; EK Success corner punch (with guard removed to create scallop border); Making Memories letter stickers & snaps; Berylium font; QuicKutz tab die; Sassafrass Lass patterned paper; blacks stamp ink; ticket from game; Scrapbooks Etc Quick Collage Template 111.

NC State Bib

One of my coworkers brought this nice gift to me yesterday for the baby - a bib his wife handmade using fabric for our alma mater:

NC State / UVa Basketball

Another page for our 2008 album - we had the opportunity to attend a college basketball game with my mother & stepfather. For the Calendar Girls challenge, I included our game tickets.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock; October Afternoon patterned paper; miscellaneous white cardstock & staples; Micron black pen; black stamp pad; EK Success border punch.

Mini Getaway

I mentioned on Friday that Trent won a basketball prize pack for our alma mater. Part of that prize included a gift certificate to Sullivan's Steakhouse (which we are saving until my appetite picks up a bit) and a night's stay at the Sheraton Raleigh.

Our room Friday night on the 13th floor:

Yes, this hotel actually has a 13th floor so of course I took a photo for my own amusement. I'm accustomed to seeing "12, 14" on elevators and had a laugh when we were sent to the 13th floor. And room 1331 at that.

Yesterday morning we checked out and drove over to the arena to cheer on the Wolfpack as they defeated Ga Tech 76-71 in overtime.

Last Three Days in Photos

No creative time last night due to my water aerobics class. So, I thought I would share my latest Project 365 photos...

On Monday we learned that Trent won a NC State Basketball Experience. He picked up the prize the next day which included among its goodies tickets to tomorrow's game and a basketball autographed by the coach.

Wednesday the cold began to hit us with the first morning below freezing in a while. Although right now that temp looks like a heat wave to me as we're starting at 13 this morning. Brrr!

Last night we stopped by Baskin-Robbins after our gym workouts to take advantage of the "free ice cream with your gym card" offer. Yes, the temps were still below freezing, but it was free ice cream. And, along with cantaloupe, one of my cravings. LOL My only disappointment was no chocolate. I instead opted for vanilla and added my own Hershey's syrup at home. :D Trent chose Butter Almond Crunch.

NCSU / UNC game

Yesterday we traveled to Chapel Hill (a whole 30 minute drive) to attend the NCSU / UNC game with Trent's brother & wife. We cheered red. They cheered blue. The temperature was 40 at best, but the shade and wind made it even colder. Regardless the layers of clothes, we all had pink cheeks & noses when the game ended. And we all had good time.

The final field goal kick that sealed the game for NCSU 41-10:

Weekend In Review

I fought a headache the entire weekend that turned into a full blown migraine early yesterday afternoon. Between the pain and the loopy effects of the medicine, I spent my time napping and relaxing. Finally feeling almost normal this morning.

The previous 2 days were quite busy so maybe I needed that rest. Friday afternoon I took both cats for their yearly vet check-up. That was quite the adventure, but worked out well. Our only change is trying new dry food (suddenly neither are interested in what I've bought the last couple years - even Chester, aka 'piglet' because he almost never turns down food) and increase the amount of wet food they get each day (Cali has lost weight again).

That night we had Trent's sister and fiance over for dinner. They are always fun to see. After dinner we girls chatted about wedding details while the boys watched football. :)

Saturday morning I spent a bit of time sewing. I finished a custom order of t-shirt bags to ship today and made this cute Dubble Bubble Gum bag for my etsy shop:

Saturday evening we attended the NCSU / USF football game. I took this panoramic during the pre-game activities. It was a gorgeous evening and full stadium once again...well, at least until the rain came. It started slowly in the 2nd quarter. Then poured! The rain continued in a cycle of slight rain to downpour through halftime and most of the 3rd. Thank goodness Trent packed ponchos for the two of us. I'd guess 90% of the crowd was gone by the time the rain stopped. We left with about 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The score was 41-10 and not in our favor. Oh, well, there's always next week. ;)

Saturday Football

Yesterday it was once again time to head out to our college's football stadium for a game. We arrived about an hour and a half before game time. This left us time to wander around a bit. It was a chilly start to the day - upper 50s and breezy.

Front of the football center:
The sun started shining and temps climbing as the Wolfpack took the field:

By the end of the game, we were warm and nicely sunburned to match our team colors. LOL Worth the sacrifice though for a thrilling game. NC State was taking on ranked East Carolina and probably expected to come out on bottom. I snapped this shot during the 4th quarter - the teams were tied up 24 - 24 and there were 45.2 seconds left on the clock. Notice the stadium is full. Everyone was on the edge of their seats wondering what would happen.

The 4th ended still tied. Overtime began with ECU getting the ball first. NCSU defense held and managed to recover a fumble by ECU. Our turn for the chance to score for the win..... [and a small warning - before watching turn down the volume a bit ;) ]

And with that final play, the Wolfpack upset the Pirates 30-24. Woohoo! Go Pack!

Wolfpack Football

After the storm moved out of North Carolina, we had a beautiful sunny day - perfect weather for football. We went to the NCSU season opener against William & Mary where the Wolfpack pulled off a 34-24 win.

Changing of Holidays

I had not intended on letting several days go by without blogging. Thursday, of course, was filled with time with family and celebrating. Trent and I started our day at his parents' house for lunch. Later we drove a little further west and visited with my dad's family. Finally returning home after midnight! It was a blessing to see so many of our family members in one day especially those we don't have an opportunity to see quite as often. And we met our new niece for the first time. :)

Yesterday is still a blur due to a migraine so I'm trying to make up for it a bit today. Following the NCSU football game (which I think I'd rather be a blur as well!), we bought our Christmas tree. It's officially standing in its spot in the living room. We'll wait until at least tomorrow before beginning to decorate as the limbs need to drop a bit. But I did switch the wreaths on the front door - placing the fall wreath in storage and hanging the Christmas one. Our home is beginning to look and smell (love that fresh evergreen!) a bit like Christmas.

I couldn't get motivated, however, to do any Christmas scrapbook layouts today. I switched the slide show in the left hand column to feature some Christmas & winter layouts I've done in the past. Maybe they'll inspire me. But I was able to find motivation to complete another Disney layout. Here's my take on the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor:
Supplies: Misc purple cardstock; Uniball signo white pen; Micron black pen; EK Success striped PP and Mike Wazowski sticker; Making Memories brads; stamp ink pad; Times New Roman and Gilligans Island fonts.

2ps Blog Challenge:
What's the latest movie you have seen?

Trent and I watched Transformers last night. He had borrowed the DVD from a co-worker. While I didn't dislike it, in my opinion, it dragged on a bit (seriously could they have spent anymore time having the kid search his room for the glasses???). Parts of it seemed a bit predictable, but the end didn't quite come together as I expected which isn't a bad thing.

Cards

Thanks for all the sweet birthday posts! :) I do appreciate them.

Spent a little free time today between church and the NCSU basketball game in my scrap room creating cards. Both were inspired by the Autumn Leaves designing with 2007 calendar.

For my new niece:
Supplies: DCWV card & adhesive backed CS; QK heart; MM metal rimmed tag, metal washer, thread, metal heart, and border rub-on; generic office supply metal rimmed tag; $ tree rub-on hearts; MS heart sticker; blue chalk; and Deja Views Sharon Ann collection PP. / Inspired by Nov 16 of dw2007.

And a birthday card for a friend:

Wolfpack Victory!

Part of our reason for returning from Orlando yesterday was to attend today's football game between NCSU and UNC. We shivered through the entire nailbiter of a game. It literally came down to the last few minutes and, thankfully, a 31-27 Wolfpack victory!
