Snow Day

We had an unexpected snow day yesterday. I've found it's best never to assume anything about the weather around here until you actually see it and was quite surprised to wake up to a winter wonderland. Trent's company closed for the day and I opted to stay home as well since the roads were nasty and predicted to get worse as the day went on. I did venture outside early in the morning to snap a few photos of our "big" 4 inch snowfall:

Supplies: Whisper patterned paper from Veronica Ponce's Cottage Bluff kit; distressed photo frames from Kate Teague's Film Fun kit; snowflakes from Miss Mint's Winter Sparkle kit; Jenkins v2.0 and 2ps Old Type fonts.

Staying home gave us the opportunity to watch the inauguration including seeing President Obama take the oath of office. This isn't the best photo, but I couldn't think of a better one for yesterday than this historic event:

And we had time to see exactly what kind of mischief the cats get into during the day. After a few howls, hisses and chasing, I discovered Cali on the top of her cat tree with a clump of Chester's fur hanging from her mouth!

After taking the necessary photos for evidence, I checked Chester over to make sure he didn't have a giant bald spot. No worries. As bad as it looks, he was a-ok and the two were nice (or avoiding each other) the rest of the day.

LoVe Card

I made this card yesterday for Ter's Card Challenge - to use a tag. I used an office supply store type metal rimmed tag from my stash for the "o" in the sentiment.

Around the World

I suppose I had Disney on the brain after yesterday's post. It inspired me to finish up another layout for our 2007 album:

Supplies: Dottedripped paper from Rhonna Farrer's Celebration kit; 2ps Crate font; Fit 2b Tied alpha by Tia Bennett; scan of Epcot park map.

Then & Now

I actually finished one of the circle journals early! Melanie's theme is "Then & Now." I found a fun photo of myself in the early 80's posing with Scooby Doo at Carowinds and paired it with a photo of Trent & me with Mike and Sully at Walt Disney World last month. On each side I listed similarities and differences between myself as a child and as an adult. I stamped the words "then" and "now" using Making Memories foam stamps and a teal Sharpie marker.

Supplies: Miscellaneous black cardstock; Uniball Signo white pen; Bazzill edged cardstock; Making Memories foam stamps; Sharpie marker. Inspired by Dec 24th of dw2008.

Secret Obsession

Christmas 1987

Last night I dug through some photos and found a cute one of Trent & his sister from Christmas 1987. Using odds and ends from my stash, I quickly lifted an idea from Dec 4th of dw2008:

Supplies: miscellaneous olive green cardstock and felt tree; Basic Grey patterned paper; Autumn Leaves chipboard; Martha Stewart Crafts pen.

Martina McBride - timeless tour

I scrap as I'm inspired - which means sometimes I skip events until inspiration strikes. Case in point, last night I dug out photos from a 2006 concert we attended. The photos at 4x6 are a bit grainy. I cropped them to a smaller size to improve their look and used a sketch to help arrange them in a digital layout. Here's the end result:

Supplies: Paper 1 from Erica Hernandez's Martha kit; Office Note Rip from Rhonna Farrer's Office Supply Tool kit; staples from Craft Jar kit at Peppermint Creative; date brushes from Rhonna Farrer's Celebration kit; Ligurino Condensed, Caflisch Script Pro and Antique Typewriter fonts. Inspired by Dec 5th of dw2008.

Baby Card

Simple little baby card I made with supplies on hand. I've had the patterned paper in my stash for about 2 years now. I adhered a strip of it on the inside of the card and cut back the front to allow it to show through when the card is closed.

Supplies: Die Cuts with a View card & patterned paper; miscellaneous navy blue cardstock; QuicKutz circle die; K&Company metal embellishment; corner rounder punch. Inspired by Nov 11th of dw2008.

Sorry

My sister-in-law opening my gift during her bridal shower in June 2006. We had only seen each other on a few occasions prior to the shower and I struggled searching for the "right" gift. While Trent & I were at Target, one item on their registry jumped out at us - the board game Sorry. We couldn't resist purchasing it for his brother's fiancé. Thankfully, Stephanie has the same sense of humor as we do and had a good laugh as she opened it. :)

Supplies: Marmalade patterned paper from Tia Bennett's Comical JuniorPEA kit; School in Spring patterned paper and pink grosgrain ribbon from Tia Bennett's Spring Time Fever kit; Cherie Mask's Dress It Up brush; Kristen ITC font. Inspired by Oct 3rd of dw2008.

Just Hanging Out

More "found" photos that were buried in my computer files. This particular Saturday in 2002 my sister, brother & I spent some time together just hanging out. It was a rare (and now rarer) opportunity for the 3 of us to be in the same place at once. Glad to get these photos and my memories from the day into a layout. Inspired by the sketch on Oct 2nd of dw2008 and by Color Combo Challenge #94.

Supplies: Paper 4 from Cherie Mask's Thrilling October kit; Green Paper from Rhonna Farrer's Color My World kit; date brushes from Rhonna Farrer's Celebration kit; Paint Blob from Kindergarten Crafts kit at Peppermint Creative; Come Unto Me and Pupcat fonts.

Heart Card

I've been on a bizarre cleaning / reorganizing streak over the past week and that continued into yesterday. The scrap room had collected a lot of extras and I've been working to clean those out. So nice to free us from extra stuff.

Last night I spent a few minutes playing and put together this quick card:

Supplies: Die Cuts with a View card & adhesive backed cardstock; scrap cardstock; brown stamp ink; Sharpie; Heidi Swapp ghost heart; QuicKutz tag die and rub-on; Making Memories eyelet. Inspired by Oct 24th of dw2008.
