The Waiting Game

I would never list patience as a characteristic of mine. The last few weeks I've been quite surprised at how calm and patient I was waiting on the little guy to make his appearance. The more "normal" me began showing up last week around his due date wondering when the big event would finally come. I did stop and laugh at myself on Friday - why did I suddenly think our son would show up on or before his due date? I had joked with Trent since we first learned I was pregnant that he would most likely inherit my stubbornness and be late. Clearly, I knew what I was talking about better 8 months ago than I did now.

Yesterday Trent & I went to the OB's office so the baby could have a nonstress test (NST). Basically, the doctor was checking to see that the baby is still happy where he is. He passed with flying colors. In the meantime, the doctor checked the induction schedule at our hospital and learned it was fully booked for the next week! Honestly, I was happy about both things. It was good to have that reassurance our little boy is fine and I really don't want to be induced so knowing there are no slots was a plus. This buys us more time to let our son make the decision. And, if he continues to stay put, he'll have another NST on Friday to check again that all is well.

So, we continue to wait...

  1. So glad to hear you and the baby are doing good! It definately is a "waiting game." A laid back boy you'll be having it seems :)

  2. Then we´ll keep waiting, he just wants us to be extra-excited to meet him. Hope you are not too uncomfortable and glad to know baby boy is great!

  3. keep checking on him to make sure he's ok. I know you don't want to be induced, but the actual induction isn't that bad. I always thought they put a needle or IV but they don't, they use a cream that they put "there" and somehow it starts labor. They told me it would take a few hours before labor started but mine started within 20 minutes of having that cream put in.

Anyway, here's hoping for the best.

  5. Ditto Ter. We had cream at 9 am and Ella was born just shy of 6 that evening. They even let me go home in between to labout there. Good luck!!

  6. No rush! He'll get here when he's ready! I went 8 days past my due date and was induced (needle for me, which was ok, actually). Unfortunately, it was a long ordeal that ended in a C-section. I'm sure if we had waited until she was ready on her own, we could have avoided all of that!

Glad you guys are doing well! :-) Keep nesting!

  7. Didn't know they had a test like that, how reassuring. Now you can relax and know that nothing is wrong, he is just waiting to appear when he is good and ready!
